GHIDINI1961 – Fabrics of Creation

Our attention to details goes beyond just what we create and produce in-house. We are very particular about our providers and sourcing partners to ensure that the quality we demand of ourselves is reflected on the whole production process.

This week we will focus on one of our upholstery providers, Kvadrat.

In their own words, Kvardat get their inspiration through pushing the boundaries of high-quality textiles through design and innovation.

The suite of fabrics they offer can be experienced on any of our GHIDINI1961 sofas, armchairs, lounge chairs and dormouse.

We will shed some light on the fabrics we use from Kvadrat:

Revive
Revive is a vibrant upholstery textile designed by Georgina Wright. Made from post-consumer recycled polyester (PET), it is especially created with a focus to reduce the environmental impact both in production and natural resources.
The design of Revive is inspired by the textures, colours and materials of harbours and fishing boats. It comprises two unicolours, one in the warp and one in the weft. These are either tone-in-tone or slightly contrasting.*

Clay
Bringing together both natural beauty and a sense of finesse, the creative team have mixed colours of yarn in warp and weft to create an elegant yet casual fabric. The result has a unique structured surface that adds and extra dimension to any interior design scheme. With a back cloth that gives extra stability, Clay is perfect for upholstering furniture.
The colours are inspired by the designer’s love of both art and interiors and include cool shades of cement, blue, and salvia but also the natural shades of wood and clay.*

Hero
Hero is a full-bodied upholstery textile designed by Patricia Urquiola. It particularly stands out for its uniform look and feminine, yet sporty colours.
Though Hero is a woven textile, due to its finishing treatment, it has a felt-like surface, which is smooth and directionless. As a result, the textile shows colours at their very best and complements the shape of furniture well.*

Safire
Safire’s coarse surface structure gives a subtle handwoven appearance that is both unique and dynamic, adding a special and unique dimension to this upholstery fabric. The thick boucle and chenille yarns contribute to its wooly handle and soft appeal but also gives a vibrant two-tone effect. The colour palette includes both quiet natural shades and strong, bold combinations.*

Relate
Relate is a sophisticated twill weave upholstery textile designed by Patricia Urquiola made from Trevira CS, which has a soft hand resembling natural fibres.
A faux-uni, Relate looks monochromatic at first glance but, under closer inspection, reveals a dense diagonal weave that unites two different unicoloured yarns which seemingly melt together. The textile’s compact twill-woven construction subtly references the world of fashion and captures a sense of movement.

Atlas
Woollen upholstery textile Atlas is designed by Margrethe Odgaard. It particularly stands out for its new mélange expression and meticulously nuanced colour blends.
Atlas was created to deliver a pioneering mélange look that compliments the existing mélanges in the Kvadrat collection. Margrethe Odgaard has achieved this with a construction that unites two different coloured yarns – each of which combines two colours – in the warp and the weft.

All those fabrics allow us to bring in that individual expression that you need to personalize your space.

Stay tuned as we bring focus on more of our core material in the weeks to come.
