Crafting the Triple Waves Rugs

Since the launch of our GHIDINI1961 rugs collection in May, we were asked why?

Why create rugs? What’s the link to metal inspired collections.

This is where we decided to address the elephant in the room and explain the philosophy behind what we do.

Being a metal inspired brand, is more of a tribute to our origin story, our beginnings and the skillset that brought us here. On a larger scale, as we grow into our creative future, our real focus is on creating timeless pieces of liveable art that will appreciate in value with time and use.

This was the real muse behind launching the rugs and this won’t be the last family of products that will follow this trajectory.

Now let’s focus a bit more on those beauties that were singularly hand crafted, and today we will focus on the Triple Waves Rugs, designed exclusively by Lorenza Bozzoli.

The rugs design was inspired by the experimentation of Arte Povera art of the seventies that used unusual materials such as corrugated cardboard.

The carpets are made one by one using the hand-tufting technique which is an artisanal method of craftsmanship that combines manual work and the use of a tufted gunthat inserts the threads on a cotton fabric, stretched on a vertical frame, traced with the design to be achieve.

The fleece can then be finished by hand at different thicknesses with the use of scissors and kept in n "velvet" or "loop" (small bouclè).
At the end of the weaving process, natural latex is poured on the back of the carpet which gives greater compactness to the structure of the carpet. And finally, a cotton cloth is applied by hand on the back as a finish.

The carpets are all made using the Lana New Zealand Tencel

This family of rugs is available in shades of beige, gray and blue and as expected of GHIDINI1961 can be size and colour customized on customer request.
